Limits & things to know
- Output is PNG. For photographs, a PNG at large dimensions can be much bigger than the JPG you started with — run the result through the image compressor if size matters more than lossless quality.
- Width and height are applied as given, so entering a ratio different from the original stretches the image. Work out the proportional value if you need to preserve the aspect ratio.
- Enlarging beyond the original resolution cannot invent detail; the result will look soft. Scale down from the largest source you have.
- Animated GIFs are reduced to their first frame, because a canvas holds a single still image.
Troubleshooting
The image looks stretched
The entered dimensions do not match the original aspect ratio. Change one dimension and calculate the other from the original ratio.
The resized file is bigger than the original
PNG is lossless, so a resized photo can exceed a compressed JPG source. Compress the PNG afterwards, or use the image converter to output WebP.
A very large image fails to process
Canvas size limits vary by device and are lower on phones. Resize on a desktop browser, or scale down in two smaller steps.
Privacy & data handling

Can I make a small image bigger?
