Limits & things to know
- The AI model files are roughly 30 MB and are downloaded once on first use, then cached. The first run therefore needs a connection and takes longer than later ones.
- Segmentation is strongest on clear subject-and-background separation. Fine hair, fur, motion blur, glass and semi-transparent edges are where it struggles most.
- Inference runs on your device, so an older machine or a phone will be noticeably slower than a modern desktop.
- Very large images consume significant memory during inference.

Fine strands are the hardest case for automatic segmentation. Use a photo with more contrast between subject and background, and touch up the edge in an image editor if the result is going into print.
The model download is slow or stalls
The one-time model download is about 30 MB. On a slow or metered connection, let it finish once — it is cached for subsequent visits.
Part of the subject was removed
The model misjudged the boundary, usually with low contrast or a busy background. Try a different photo of the same subject, or crop closer before processing.
Privacy & data handling
Both the model and the inference run inside your browser — your photo is never uploaded. The only network request is the one-time download of the model files themselves, which carries no image data.
