Limits & things to know
- Conversion runs on your CPU in the browser, so a long video takes noticeably longer than a native FFmpeg install would.
- The whole file is loaded into browser memory. Very large videos can exhaust a tab, particularly on phones.
- The bitrate is fixed at 192 kbps — high enough for speech and general listening, but not configurable per file.
- The tab must stay open while converting; navigating away cancels the job.

Troubleshooting
Conversion never finishes
Long or high-resolution files take time in a browser. Keep the tab in the foreground — background tabs are throttled — and try a shorter clip to confirm the tool is working.
The file will not load
The browser must be able to read the container. Exotic or corrupt containers fail; remux to MP4 or WebM in a desktop tool first.
The tab ran out of memory
Split the source into shorter segments, or use a desktop browser where more RAM is available to the tab.
Privacy & data handling
