Unit Converter
A straightforward converter covering the unit categories people actually look up — length, mass, temperature, speed, and digital storage — with results updating instantly as you type, so there's no need to hit a convert button or wade through ad-heavy calculator sites.
How it works
- 1
Pick a category: length, mass, temperature, speed, or data storage.
- 2
Select your source and target units.
- 3
Type a value and see the converted result instantly.
- 4
Switch units or categories without losing your input.
What people use it for
- Converting recipe or shipping weights between metric and imperial.
- Translating a distance or speed between systems when reading foreign documentation.
- Converting file and storage sizes between bytes, kilobytes, megabytes and gigabytes.
- Checking a temperature conversion for travel, cooking or lab work.
Supported formats & options
| Categories | Length, Weight, Temperature, Speed and Data |
|---|---|
| Conversion | Any unit within a category, in both directions |
| Input | Decimal values, converted as you type |
Key advantages & benefits
Covers the categories people search for most
Length, weight, temperature, speed, and data storage are all included rather than one narrow conversion type.
Instant, no button click
Results update live as you type the value, matching how a quick lookup should feel.
Accurate conversion factors
Standard, precise conversion constants are used rather than rounded approximations.
No ads or clutter
A focused calculator without the ad banners that surround most unit converter search results.
Limits & things to know
- Conversions happen within a category — you cannot convert a length into a weight, because there is no such relationship without a density.
- Results are floating-point and may show rounding at many decimal places; round to the precision your use actually requires.
- Data units follow decimal SI conventions (1 kB = 1000 bytes). Operating systems that report binary units (1 KiB = 1024 bytes) will show slightly different numbers for the same file.
Troubleshooting
A file size does not match what the operating system reports
Decimal versus binary units. Windows reports 1024-based sizes while labelling them KB or MB; the difference is about 2.4 percent per step.
A temperature conversion looks wrong
Temperature scales have offsets as well as ratios — Celsius to Fahrenheit is not a simple multiplication. Double-check that the direction of conversion is the one you intended.
Privacy & data handling
Conversions are arithmetic performed in the page. No values are transmitted or stored.
Unit Converter — Length, Weight, Temperature & More
Convert between metric and imperial units for length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, time and digital storage. A free online unit conversion calculator that updates as you type, with no ads stacked between the fields.
- Length and distance — millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, inches, feet, yards and miles, converted precisely rather than rounded early.
- Weight and temperature — kilograms to pounds, grams to ounces, Celsius to Fahrenheit and Kelvin — the everyday conversions for recipes, shipping and travel.
- Volume, area and speed — litres to gallons, square metres to square feet, km/h to mph for construction, cooking and logistics work.
- Digital storage units — bytes, kilobytes, megabytes and gigabytes, which is the conversion developers reach for when reading a size limit.
- Instant and offline-friendly — conversions are computed in your browser, so the tool stays responsive with no round trip per keystroke.
Free with no sign-up. Time a measured interval with the Stopwatch & Timer when your conversion is part of a real-world measurement.
Frequently asked questions
What unit categories are supported?
Length, mass/weight, temperature, speed, and digital data storage (bytes through terabytes) are all covered.
How precise are the conversions?
Standard internationally recognized conversion factors are used, giving results accurate to several decimal places.
Can I convert between imperial and metric units?
Yes, that's one of the most common use cases — converting between miles and kilometers, pounds and kilograms, Fahrenheit and Celsius, and so on.
Does it handle very large or very small numbers?
Yes, values across a wide range are handled without losing precision, including data storage conversions up to terabytes.
Is this free with no limits?
Yes, completely free with unlimited conversions since it's simple arithmetic running client-side.
